Brooke Bond – PG Tips – Sergeant Chimp 9” plastic figural Money Box, early 1970s. This is a lovely example of a 9” plastic figure / Money Box in the shape of Sergeant Chimp – one of the famous Chimp characters from the famous Brooke Bond PG Tips commercials that ran from the 1950s through to the 1980s. Sergeant Chimp dates from around the early 1970s. The reason I use the word ‘lovely’ is that while not the rarest item in the world (he must have been a very popular mail order offer at the time) these items turn up in all sorts of conditions – often faded / scuffed and sometimes having chipped bases and missing stoppers. This one is in wonderful clean – effectively as new condition. He has been stored somewhere dark and I assume dry as he is not faded and looks like he is fresh out of the box. You save your coins in the slot on top of his head and the stopper is on the underside of his feet. It is impossible to be an expert in all realms of collecting, and I am honestly representing this item to the best of my knowledge and ability. If the item has a fault then I have mentioned it. I ask that you read the description and examine the photos carefully. I also encourage you to ask any questions you may have during the auction to help clarify identification or condition, as I may inadvertently omit information that you as a collector feel is important. If after you receive the item there is any problem at all please let me know BEFORE leaving feedback or leaving a low Item As Described rating. If you do not let me know of a problem I have no way of knowing what may have been wrong and I really do want to sort it out.
