This listing is for original engraving plate (NOT the print) by artist Bruegel the Elder, Pieter (1525 - 1569). Engraving plate is second state of two plates . The title of this engraving plate is; Four-Master and Two Three-Masters Anchored near a Fortified Island with a Lighthouse, c. 1555-1569. This engraving plate belongs to a series of ten prints known as the Sailing Vessels, executed by Frans Huys after designs by Pieter Bruegel the Elder. The signature of Bruegel & initials of Frans Huys are engraved in the lower right corner (see photo No. 5). This Sailing Vessels print was engraved under Bruegel's direction by Jan and Lucas van Duetecum. The signature/logo of Jan and Lucas van Duetecum is engraved at right side of the plate (see photo No. 6). The engraving plate is in great condition with few very small scratches that can be buffered off very easy by professional (see photos No. 9, 10 & 11). This engraving plate is medium size and measures are: 13 1/2 inches by 10 inches. This plate will be shipped in wooden box/case for protection agains the damage during the transportation.
