Dramatic Brutalist lamp, in the style of Harry Balmer's torch-cut lamps for Laurel Lighting.I don't know who created this lamp, or when it was sculpted. It seems to be a 'newer' lamp. It could be a one-off designer piece. Clearly an homage to the brutalist lamps of Harry Balmer.Unlike the Laurel lamps, this has a heavy polished black granite base which sits on a metal piece. This is a very heavy lamp that has been sculpted to perfection, including the metal finial which picks up the design theme of the lamp body.Truly a work of art in Steel and Granite.Condition:Excellent condition. No chips on the granite base. (Lamp shade is NOT included.)A monumental 38 inches tall, to the top of the final. (there is a tall harp included, however one can always lower the height of the lamp with a shorter harp). As a mid century lamp lover, collector and seller, my philosophy is simple and two pronged;1) RARITY AND BEAUTYOne can easily buy a great $1000 contemporary lamp from Holly Hunt or Circa lighting, or Flos (to name a few) but the lamps I sellwill never be produced again and I appreciate their rarity.2) HONESTYI never sell "Frankenstein" lamps (odd pieces slapped together, slathered in new paint (oddly enough usually fire engine red) and passed off as having an exotic (usually Italian, or Gino Sarfatti ) origin.Buyer beware, I say! This will read more
