The bugles of the title are those which summon every infantryman to duty and to danger, to reveille and to rest, and which make his bayonet-clutcing advance possible. the tiger is one which John Masters encountered adn killed, in unlikely but perilous circumstances, but which by some mysterious chance was the symbol of his own destiny. Following graduation from Sandhurst, Masters saw service with the 4th Prince of Wales's Own Gurkha Rifles at Bakloh in the central foothills of the Himalayas during the inter-war years. An evocative memoir of mess and barracks life, regimental ceremonials, mountain treks, and shooting snipe and tiger. The chapters are headed by drawings by Lt Col C. G. Borrowman and reproduced from "A History of the 4th Prince of Wales's Own Gurkha Rifles". One of a number of similar Items I am selling.
