Burgess Roye (1944-2015) Ponca Tribe, Pawnee, Oklahoma. Incredibly precise painting of Native man with p eace pipe , with crane in smoke. Signed lower right edge. Gouache (tempera) on beige artist's board. 15" x 10." There are couple of barely visible marks on the board. Painting is gorgeous. Burgess Roye was born in 1944 in Pawnee, Oklahoma in the Ponca tribe. Known as both a poet and an artist, his media includes oil, watercolor, tempera, graphite and prints. Burgess Roye is the brother of the artist Paladine Roye.
