A grand example of a piece of late Victorian Â'GothicÂ' style woodenware. Measures approximately 9Â" x 6Â" x 4Â". Veneered with fine quality burr walnut to ALL aspects of the exterior rather than just the top and front as is so frequently the case. Save for one VERY small slither of replaced veneer to the top right corner (approximately 1/8Â" x 3⁄4Â"), hardly worth stating and barely notices. All other veneer is original and complete and possesses the highly prized and much valued unspoilt patina and being burr walnut the box oozes antique charm. The box is adorned with engraved brassware with stud fixings along with white beads set within brass surrounds. Original material to the exterior base in far above average condition. All edges keen with the top closing square and true on the original hinges. The interior features the original lining throughout. One small repair of hooped band to the lid interior otherwise the entire interior is once again in above expected condition especially when it is considered that this box was a Â'work boxÂ' and circa 130 years old. The box comes complete with a range read more
