With Byrd at the South Pole (Paramount, 1930). One Sheet (27 X 41 ). This documentary recorded Admiral Richard Byrd s 1928 expedition to the South Pole, the second venture he had made to that vast wilderness in just three years. The film was shot mostly as a silent, with a musical score added later, along with narration by Byrd himself as he described the actual flight over the South Pole. The film was beautifully photographed and won the Academy Award for cinematography in 1930. There is light staining throughout the graphics, extensive paper loss down the right border that extends into the graphics, small tears and pinholes. The poster has been professionally restored, minimizing these defects. This poster is one of the rare full bleed posters produced in the early 1930s. Very Good/Fine on Linen.
