This appears to be an all original cast iron bell made by the C. S. Bell Company of Hillsboro Ohio . The bell is a No 2 size (marked on the bell) which is 24 inches tall when mounted on the yoke/frame and the base of the bell is 16 inches in diameter. The yoke is signed C.S. Bell Co. of Hillsboro Ohio on one side and No. 2 Yoke 1886 on the other. The bell frame is signed CRYSTAL METALS "2" on one side and No 2 upright 1886 on the other side. The clapper is present and operates well--it has a clear and loud ring. The bell, yoke, and frame are in excellent original condition with no cracks or breaks. The bell sits in the frame and swings freely. The yoke and frame are black and the bell is gold. The finish on all pieces are pretty good. Please see the pictures and ask any questions. I recently bought this is Savannah GA but have no history on the item. This is the type of bell used in schools, churches, courthouses, or on plantations. The item will be disassembled and shipped in a heavy box and will probably weight around 55 pounds when boxed for shipping. Shipping is from zip 28607 and will probably be shipped best by UPS.
