This auction is for a used vintage L. C. Smith manual typewriter. It is made entirely of steel and has green plastic keys. It measures about 15" long x 11" wide x 10" tall and weighs 27 pounds. It is stamped on the top "2A2313880-11" which I assume is a model number. I think this was made in the 1940's. This typewriter is in good used cosmetic condition and seems to be in working condition. I am not familiar with typewriters and how they should work, but I tested the best I know how. All of the keys will type onto paper in black or red ink, depending on the setting. The carriage bar would move to the left while typing and can be pushed back to the right . The shift key works to print capital letters, and can be locked. The spacer bar and back space key seems to work. The long lever at the top left will move the paper one line at a time. A bell would ring occassionally while testing. It has very few scratches and scuffs. It has a thin wear line on the back left corner. The printed letters and numerals on the keys are clearly visible. I'm not sure of the condition of the ink ribbon. There is no obvious breakage or dents. The levers and controls seem to be complete but I wouldn't know if they work correctly. This is a nice looking typewriter that I think will work well. I do not understand exactly how this machine should work, so read more
