DescriptionTitle: "Das Königreich Franckreich" This rare map comes form the Atlas Selectus by the German cartographer Johann Georg Schreiber (1676-1750). Published in Leipzig in 1741. Schreiber followed in the footsteps of his father, Johann Christoph, as a cartographer, and in 1741 he published his Atlas Selectus, which was republished in 1749. A text column at right explains abbreviations used on the map. Refs: Phillips/LeGear #s 609 - 11; 6017.A visually attractive German map, typical of German cartography of this date, with much detail provided, especially for such a small map. Very nice cartouche featuring Lion. The engraving is guaranteed to be over 250 years old.
