Y ou are bidding on a rare piece of folk art and early Lancaster County, PA Mathematical history! This is a unique and RARE female handwritten early 19th century American manuscript/cypher calligraphic book, written by Mary Ann Brubacher during 1850-51 while at the Eden School of Lancaster Co., PA, with great elements including HUNDREDS of pages of long, extensive math work and word problems. A scarce piece of ciphering with amazing content with hand drawn initials, headings and full mathematical lessons, containing beautiful handwritten problems as well as calligraphic and intricate penmanship examples of folk art, all topped and laced with various signatures by the then young woman.Used as a school math/handwriting copybook and covered many different elements of math, as well as some great hand detailed and intricate calligraphic penmanship examples, as stated. Measuring roughly 13" x 9", this piece comes hand tied in two parts, with what looks to be all of the original pages present as well as parts of the original boards in the rear (rarely seen this full and complete- especially from a female), and contains 114 handwritten pages, written from October of 1850-January of 1851.
