Mrs. Hoffman was a prolific collector with one of the most extensive collections in Arkansas. Watch our auctions for more! This Ingraham "Marbleite" mantle clock is one of a series introduced in 1897. T were apparently 12 various styles plus a couple of "midget" styles that wore this patented faux marble finish. Models 1,2, 3,4,5,9,10,11, & 12 appear in their old catalogues, however models 6,7 & 8 do not. Even Tran Duy Ly's exhaustive work " Ingraham Clocks & Watches " does not mention them, nor do they show up in the dozens of other reference works we have. This is a pretty good indication that it is an unusual if not very rare model 6, 7, or 8 clock. Standing 11" tall x 10" wide it is in nearly perfect original condition. It is amazing to find a 110 year old clock that's this nice. The base color is very dark brown....almost black, and features the caramel color "Marbleite" finish. The hands and metal applique trim also feature a warm brown sugar finish. Super fancy 6" solid brass French bezel / sash. Fast / slow adjustment inside dial center ring. The signed Ingraham trademarque key wound, 8 day time and strike movement is in very good condition and has been well maintained. Fresh from a $175 cleaning & adjustment and operates flawlessly. Strikes the hour on a heavy cathedral round coil gong, and strikes the hour on a separate cup bell. Key and pendulum included. A truly spectacular clock that will enhance your finest decor.
