4- C1900-- Christian Barthelmess-- Manila Philippines Military Photos Photograph Here are Four (4) Original Circa 1900's Christian Barthelmess Chrome Photo (6 1/2" X 4 1/4") Images from the Philippine–American War for your consideration. Renowned photographer/ pictorial historian Christian Barthelmess is probably best known for his photo documentation of Cheyenne and Sioux Native American Indian life at Fort Keogh on the south banks of the Yellowstone River in Northern Montana during the late 19th century, just following the Battle of Little Big Horn. But he also documented military life during his services in the US Army circa 1876-1898, and 1903-1906. These original photos are believed to be from his years in the Philippines Circa 1903-1906, as the dates 1906 & 1907 were written on some of the photos from this album. One of our nation's most celebrated photographers, his photos of Native American, ethnic, frontier & military life reside today in the Smithsonian Institute, the National Museum of Natural History, the Montana Historical Society and the Range Riders Museum in Miles City, Montana. All Four photos are back stamped "Christ. Barthelmess, Photographer. 2nd U.S. Infantry, Cuartel de Espana, Manila, P.I." They remain in the generally very good to excellent shape that you see.
