Up for auction is a rare antique leatherbound edition of John Tyndall’s landmark work on the physics of water, entitled, simply THE FORMS OF WATER in CLOUDS AND RIVERS, ICE AND GLACIERS . Published by the Werner Company in Akron, Ohio circa 1900. “With thirty-five illustrations drawn and engraved under the direction of the author.” 196 pages. Tyndall was one of the most prominent physicists of the 19th century, and his work on physics revolutionized human understanding of these physical phenomena. This handsome leatherbound edition was published as part of an “International Science Library,” and was lavishly bound in three-quarter pebbled red leather over marbled boards. Marbled endpapers front and rear. Top page edge brightly gilded. This book is quite rare in this leatherbound edition, and would make a fine addition to any antique physics or history of science library. In VERY GOOD condition overall with some light wear to the leather and board edges. Very clean inside. A very handsome leatherbound edition of this important 19th century physics treatise.
