Up for auction is a grouping of photographs and negatives, and letters from the estate of Major General William S. McCaskey. William McCaskey's daughter Margie married Will Chapman. Will Chapman and his family were stationed at Fort Shafter, Honolulu, Hawaii from 1909 to 1911. T are a total of 21 vintage negatives that are 3 1/2" by 3 1/2" in size. These negatives are of Chapman/McCaskey family members, of their home, of horse and carts, of buildings, of landscapes, some military personal, etc. These negatives are in excellent condition. The negatives come inside their original Honolulu Photo Supply envelope sleeves.A modern photographic print has been made of seven of the negatives that are in this lot. T are also six vintage photographs from the era of 1910-1912 in this grouping of material. I have posted images of these photographs. In addition to the photographs and negatives t are three letters that are addressed to Fort Shafter, Honolulu, Hawaii. Two were written in 1910 and one was written in 1911. One of the letters was written by Will Chapman to his wife back at Fort Shafter. It is a three page letter that he wrote from a camp excursion that his regiment was involved in. He is now camped at Cook & Castle Ranch. It appears from the letter that the troops are moved from camp to camp, to various islands, for training. Interesting read more
