Cabinet portrait in memoriam . Post-mortem tribute to a darling little girl with a poignant expression. In very good condition with minimal wear and soiling to surface of the photo and mount.Attached at top of the verso covering the elaborate backstamp is a pictorial tissue paper overlay depicting a spider in the center of its web suspended from a tree branch over water. The overlay is in remarkably good condition with diagonal creases but no tears. Diagonal white space seen in fourth scan is the manner in which the scanner recorded the image. It is not on the tissue itself. The overlay was produced by Percy Lund & Co., Bradford, Ohio, as listed in a credit at bottom right below the scene.Unidentified subject photographed by Freeburn & Nichols, Canal Dover, O(hio) as listed below the photo and in the backstamp. Probably dates from the early 1890s. Tissue paper overlays with such pictorial detail and in such good condition are very scarce.
