Cabinet Card Portrait of Elegant African American Woman, Washington DC, circa 1890 Cabinet card of an African American woman in fine attire, including a fashionable hat. She sits on the arm of a twig-style chair. Photographer's identification on recto and verso " D. Freeman, 15th & M Street, N.W., Washington, DC. "Born in Alexandria, Virginia in 1868, African American photographer Daniel Freeman (1868-1927) moved to Washington, DC to study drawing in the public schools there. He also studied photography under E.J. Pullman, and went into business in the nation's capital in 1885.Condition: Very good condition.
