A Stunning Cacutta Sterling Collar Rope Necklace, c1920s Essential Reference Silver articles & jewelry from India depicting geometric & circular designs are typical of the Calcutta style that developed in the last quarter of the 19th Century. This necklace was probably created in Bhowanipore or Cutch where exceptionally skilled silversmiths were active creating objects reflecting daily life from around the country. Most silver articles of this type - created during this period - were often left unmarked by their makers.
