This is a 3.5" x 2.5" x .5" Pennsylvanian age, 300-million-year-old fossil showing the foliage of a Calamites (also known as Asterophyllites charaeformis) which was a plant that resembled bamboo but is actually related to modern day rushes. This particular piece shows the branches and leafy ends of the plant along with some of the original plant material preserved as coal. This is truly a museum quality specimen and one of the best I've been able to offer for sale. Excellent detail nicely presented and will make a nice addition to your collection. This came from a coal mine in Alabama.
