DESCRIPTION Measuring 9 1/2" in diameter, this dinner plate carries a central image of a lone Scottish hunter in the foreground with additional hunters, deerhound and deer in the background. The outer edge is gently scalloped and carries four different hunt scene cartouche divided by decorative floral cartouche.The underside of the plate carries the Adams impressed backstamp, as well as the imprinted Caledonia pattern name. CONDITION This Adams Caledonia plate is in excellent condition for its antique age. On the back, I did notice one tiny chip on the upper right base ring on the bottom of the plate which measures 2 mm and two nicks on the bottom rim of the plate can be seen in the magnified photograph. The front of the plate is free of any signs of damage including usage marks. There are areas of light crazing on the underside of the plate. The plate is odor free. ~ PLEASE NOTE ~ that any white areas appearing in the photographs are the result of flash photography, and do not exist on the actual object.~HISTORY William Adams and Sons Pottery was once located in the popular Stoke-on-Trent area of England, in the town of Tunstall.
