This auction is for a .7 gram fragment of the Cali Colombia meteorite that fell July 6 at 4 pm after a fireball was witnessed by thousands in the Western Andes and bolided over the residences of Restrepo, Darien, and Yotoco, w windows were shattered from the shockwave created by the breakup of this massive fireball on its fiery decent into the Cauca Valley fifty kilometers away, seconds later a few people were stunned when black stones smashed through the rooftops of their homes in the barrios of Mariano Ramos, Ciudad Cordoba, Antonia Narnino, and Laureano Gomez. The people in the four houses that were hit reported that the stones were cold to the touch. This fragment is from the stone that landed in the shower of the Noguera family in the Barrio Antonio Narino ( Cali # 002 ) and broke into four pieces totaling around 35 grams. This specimen exhibits secondary crust on one side. It comes with a photocopy of the newspaper article on this stone, a piece of the roof struck by Cali #003, and photos of the hole in the roof created by the fall of this stone. For more information on this fall including maps please visit /califall/CALIcolombiafall.htm This is my last piece, so if you want a specimen from this fall this is your chance.
