FOUR, RARE, BRONZE COMMEMORATIVE MEDALS FROM ESTATE These four medals came from my late Mother's estate, and are all considered rarities. They are:1. SAN DIEGO 200TH ANNIVERSARY (1769-1969) This huge Bronze medal measures 3" across and is encased in Lucite . Two creative City Council member in the late 1960's (Jack Walsh and Harry Scheidle) served with distinction and were rewarded by being elected to the San Diego County Board of Supervisors. During their time with the City they worked aggressively to promote the City of San Diego as " the place to live and work." When they were elected to the County Board of Supervisors they expanded their promotional ideas to cover the entire county. One of their first efforts was to encase several of these beautiful commemorative medals in Lucite with the Board of Supervisors name included in gold letters. Over the years the encased medals found their way onto the desks and into the trophy cases of many state and national leaders. The medal in this lot has never been used and is still in it's original white presentation box. Please see the pictures.2. HILO, HAWAII COMMEMORATIVE DOLLAR (1975) On one side of the medal is an artistic view of Mounts Mauna Loa and Manna Kea, and the Liliuokalani Gardens. "ALOHA" and 'HILO" are inscribed as well as the individual serial number of this medal, #184, read more
