Oil on canvas, attr. to Lionel L. Edwards (1874–1954) Excellent condition, recently cleaned and varnished. Unsigned. The outer dimensions of the frame are 30.5"h x 28.5"w. The canvas dimensions are 26"h x 24"w . The c.1940s carved gilt wood frame shows signs of rubbing/fading to the finish, as well as minor nicks and mars consistent with age. The upper left corner of the frame has very minor separation. Lionel L Edwards (1874 – 1954) Born in California on Jan. 25, 1874. Edwards settled in Los Angeles in 1889. He was active there both as an artist and a newspaper publisher. In his leisure he made painting forays into the desert area around Palm Springs and the high Sierra. Edwards died in Los Angeles on April 27, 1954. Member: Calif. Art Club; Painters & Sculptors of LA. Exh: LA Co.
