CALVAIRE Acrylic, Glass and Gold Washed Silver Flower Pendant. Really Rare. ca. 1940’s. CALVAIRE was a company founded by Ray Calish whose dates of operation were ca. 1920 to ca. 1960s. There is a belief that the company was from France with divisions in the United States . According to the book “Inside the Jewelry Box”, Vol. 1 by Ann Pitman, pieces with this hallmark are very rare. She states that she hardly sees them at auction. They are rare, high quality jewelry that reach high prices when found. As with many collectables, rarity exceeds condition sometimes. This piece is in the shape of a five-petal flower. It has a piece of acrylic with stripes which simulate three petals. On top of it is set a gold washed silver piece cut into three different size pieces with serrated edges; in the middle of it is set a faceted glass. On the back and upper part, it has a gold washed silver piece which simulates two petals. The gold wash is in good vintage condition. This piece is exactly as we bought it. It has its original patina. It will fit a chain which measures less than 3/8 in. approx. It measures: 1 ¾ X 1 ¼ in. It is fully marked as follows: STERLING , CALVAIRE . It weights: 6.9 gr. This piece is in excellent vintage condition, it has only some minor surface scratches and dents common to any worn vintage piece. Look at the photos read more
