Camp Coacoochee was a segregated camp from the North Florida Council, Jacksonville, Florida. In response to the concept of "seperate but equal" that existed in the South during the 1940's, 1950's and early 1960's in the south, many Boy Scout councils set up segregated camping opportunities for Black Scouts. In general, these camps were well attended and a sense of pride was developed by those who attended these camps. I have been accumulating items from this part of Scouting's past for over 35 years. I have decided to part with many duplicates that I have acquired over the years. This is a twill, rolled-edge, cloth-back patch. It is mint, unsewn and unwashed. Postage is $1.00.
