Canadian carver Andre Dube' early farming scene depicting stump removal. The piece is 32 1/2" long. 11" wide, by 8 3/4" at the oxen's yoke with a green felt underside. The carving shows three men and a boy removing a stump using a pair of oxen to clear new farmland. There is a dog behind the oxen that appears to be barking with a hollow log and stump in front of the pair. There is a coat, hat, food sac, and jug on the ground among the men's feet and each person has a tool in their hands. The oxen are well defined with their ribs showing, limbs straining, and ears outstretched. The piece has lovely eye appeal with one flaw, about a twenty five percent loss on an ear of the left ox. There has been no attempt to clean or polish the carving. Please feel free to contact us with any questions.
