After years of collecting flags it was finally time to give the collection a good sorting through, in order to free some space. The result of this will be that over the coming weeks (in a yet undefined pace) I will put up for sale some spares and duplicates of flags and ensigns that instead could be part of someone elses collection. Most flags will be "Red Ensigns" or "Blue Ensigns" from the British Empire, but other flags as well. Happy bidding! Although I collect flags, I am not a great expert in different fabrics, types of cloth etc. Nor am I very good with sizes (converting inches to centimeters etc), but I will do my best to describe the flag on sale. But please try to look at the picture(s) as they will give you the most accurate information. This auction: This is a Canadian Red ensign circa 1920s - 1930s. The reason for why I make that assumption is twofold. First of all the coat of arms is located completely within the fourth quarter of the flag, a practice that was most common in this time period and can be seen in other older flags (why that is I have no idea). Second of all, the man in Canada from whom I purchased the flag said that it was flown over the US - Canada Border crossing at Sault Ste. Marie (Ontario & Michigan) and that his father was given the flag upon his retirement. Of course this would be hard to verify. read more
