A scarce first world war white metal cap badge. Although this cap badge denotes the Tyneside Scottish it originates from the northumberland Fusiliers. This Fusilier regiment raised five scottish battalions. (20th/21st/22nd/23rd/ and 29th.) This was their first badge and was only in use for about a year when a more substantial and impressive badge was required. This led to the large lion on a castle turret cap badge known as the second pattern. Like most capbadges this one has been copied but invariably they are in brass. The 24th to 27th Battalions were raised as the Tyneside Irish.I rescued it along with some others from the weatherby antiques fair a week or so ago. guaranteed 100% genuine and can be returned for a full refund if the winner is not happy.
