Cape Cod Glass Works Art Glass Crown Paperweight With Clichy Rose Cane This is a nice Cape Cod Glass Works blue and white twisted latticino, and fine white and pink filigree crown paperweight with a nice complex millefiori Clichy style rose signature cane on top. It measures 2 1/4" in diameter, and 1 3/4" high. It is in excellent condition with no chips, or cracks. Bottom has polished pontil. The top cane is a complex millefiori cane with a "WBC" (William C. Burchfield) signature cane within, which was his monogram, and he only used on weights he made himself. I bought this directly from the family of the owners of the Cape Cod Glass Works. Bill Burchfield started glass working at Pairpoint in the 1970's, and went on to start his own studio/glass factory in the late 70's or early 80's, in Buzzards Bay, MA, then on to Sagamore, MA in the late 80's working through the 1990's, until it moved to Tennessee in about 2000 only working for a brief time before finally ceasing operations, and made some of the most beautiful crown weights, swirls, marbries, and millefiori paperweights and marbles, at the height of his career in the 1990s, and was best known for his Clichy style rose canes which are some of the best contemporary examples, in my opinion.
