Capistrano Mission Arches : founded by the Spanish in 1776, by St. Junipero Serra. This is an oil painting, painted during the year 2005. It was hand painted, on 18"x 24" canvas board with brush and pallet knife. It has no scratches or mares, in perfect condition. Established as Mission San Juan Capistrano in 1776, but then damaged severely 1812 Capistrano earthquake which caused the community to decline. Following the Mexican secularization act of 1833, the village surrounding was established as a small town. After the American Conquest of California, San Juan continued as a small town until the 20 th century, which began a restoration of the mission. After about 1910-1920 the town became popular as a tourist attraction as Hollywood used it as a backdrop for films.
