Full title: The Cosmic Connection - An Extraterrestrial Perspective. First Edition copy from 1973. Anchor Press/Doubleday. Good condition. Dust Jacket shows original price (unclipped). Minor edge tears and discoloration on jacket. Binding is tight. No writing inside. More of the story... This book was promoted as "thirty-nine genuine, vintage Sagan dinner conversations." This book, like all of the author's works, was dictated. Demonstrating his unique, conversational style, this first book (he had co-authored two prior books) is said to have opened up television for the author. After publishing this book, Sagan appeared on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and captivated both the host and the audience. Over the next 13 years, Sagan appeared on The Tonight Show twenty-six times. He called it the "biggest classroom in history".I found this historic gem in a Goodwill outlet bin. Now some of the business stuff… Self Disclosure I am a hobbyist and not a professional book seller. This means I love books and have collected for decades. I love the search and the find along with the story behind the book. I have eclectic tastes which means I snag certain books and pass over others. Biographies, SciFi, History, Southern literature, Classic literature, Children's book... if you follow me, you will begin to see what grabs my attention. Frankly, to keep my hobby interesting and to open up shelf space, I am trying out Ebay. I enjoy passing on and sharing my finds -- sounds like a Win/Win adventure. Descriptions I will share and show the details of a book conditions that stand out to me. I will use the words and standard lingo in a manner that I think most book hounds understand. However, I may miss something or overlook a detail that is important to you. Just Ask. Pricing That said, I will offer what I think is a fair price. Often, since I am not earning my living on books, I will be able to let go of a treasure cheaper than others. If I am letting go of a book, I am probably no longer too attached but, you never know. If you think I am crazy on a price, I would love to learn more. Packing and Shipping I will pack and ship books in the manner that I know best and appreciate. This means I will wrap and package using plastic and cardboard to protect against wetness, bumps, dings, and bends. I use supplies that I have seen work well – but, if you have a great tip, please pass it on. I ship using USPS Media Mail. It sometimes is slow but I can’t help that. If you want a book shipped differently or faster, I can oblige but will pass that cost on to you, the buyer. Also, I do not routinely insure packages but, I will do that if requested and again, I will pass that expense on. I don’t yet do international shipping. Sorry. You would be amazed and thrilled to see what is lurking on shelves just waiting to be tossed away in estate sales, non-profit book sales, on even dumped into free bins.
