This is a pre-war Carl Zeiss Jena PLANAR 20mm f 4.5 microscope objective lens with iris ring, Made in Germany, as shown in the photos. It has the original black metal coating (vintage circa 1909). Marked "D.R.P. 92313" in the front and "Serie Ia Nr. 1" in the back. This is a photomacrographic lens (Lupenobjektiv) that gives excellent two-dimensional depiction of flat surfaces, usually used without an ocular. RMS standard screw mount. Similar concept to Zeiss Mikrotar and Luminar, Leitz Milar and Summar, or Reichert Neupolar. THE FINE PRINT: Trimming down my collection due to a shift ofinterests.
