Carlton Ware daytime OAK TREE art deco jug / pitcher. Shape 1098/3 Carlton Ware introduced their Oak Tree range in the mid 1930's. They were produced in only two colourways: pattern 3810 blue ground and pattern 3811 (as in this case) fawn ground. Some collectors believe that the two versions represent daytime and nightime. Carlton Ware produced 31 different shapes in this pattern. This fabulous jug / pitcher must surely be one of the largest pieces produced in this pattern. In very good clean condition with no chips, cracks or marks. T is some very faint crazing to the underside base. T are 2 small paint flakes on the top rim, 1 on the handle and 1 on base of tree. All other paintwork is in excellent condition and the jug has a good true sound to it when tapped. The backstamp and the RD number 794854 date this piece to C.1934. Approximate measurements: diameter of base 107mm (4.2 inches) / height 260mm (10.25 inches) This beautiful pitcher, which is offered without reserve and at a low start price, would make an excellent addition to someone's collection.
