This auction is for a stunning vintage demi cup and saucer made by Carlton Ware of England. The background color is "Rouge Royal"and a deep red. The entire inside, trim and handle are gold as is much of the art deco style filagree. I don't know the name of this pattern but it contains a multi-colored bird and an equally colorful tree and butterflies. As you can see the decoration is very intense and the glazes are rich like enamels. Its hard to be sure of the many marks on the bottoms but they might read, "1/5096 J14J Carlton Ware, Made In England Trademark". T's also marks in gold and red. The condition is excellent with the only flaw being one tiny 1/8" scratch on the surface of the red (which you probably wont see) on the saucer. Otherwise, no chips, cracks, hairlines, utensil marks or repairs Not even on the rims or handle. T is the very fine manufacturing crazing that's not unusual for fine china. The cup measures a little under 2 1/2" tall and the saucer 4 3/8" in diameter. A dazzling set with a low reserve. Winning bidder prepays plus shipping within 7 days.
