Rare colour (pale greyish blue) and design - using the stencils from larger vases on a !3cm object. Listed is an iconic and stylish 60's Carstens Ankara ball vase. Stencilled in gunmetal glaze in patterns recognisable from Turkish kilims- usually on a Wedgwood-style thin blue matt base these vases are both iconic and fragile. This example uses a different colour ground to the standard and larger stencil patterns The propensity of Carsten's favoured red clay to chip and shear away makes undamaged Carstens Tonnieshof pieces likely to increase in value.
