Cassier's Magazine Vol XVI May-October 1899 (including the famous ELECTRIC RAILWAYS ISSUE, August 1899) Cassier's magazine, published between 1891 and 1913, covered advances in engineering, military, naval and other technologies through a range of well-written and illustrated articles of 10-20 pages, several featuring in each monthly issue. On a few well-chosen occasions the magazine concentrated on producing a month's issue devoted solely to a particular topic. These tended to be seminal pieces of work, and the August 1899 issue, which focused on Electric Railways (including trams, tramways) was without doubt one such piece of work. You can buy the 'Electric Railways' issue on CD, and you will find from time to time on ebay and elsewhere one of the several h/b reprints of that issue. But you won't find many opportunities to buy not only an ORIGINAL copy, but one bound into its peer volume of Cassier's magazine, giving not just one but SIX issues of Cassier's to study. There are lots of interesting articles in the other 5 issues contained in this volume (eg 'the Strength of the British Navy', 'Lord Kelvin', 'Modern Machine Guns') but I make no apologies for giving more detail on the contents of the 'Electric Railways' issue....The Latest Developments in Electric Conduit Railways. – F.
