I recently purchased at a country farm estate auction a large quantity of ornamental cast iron, what I believe are parts or components of cast iron fencing. I was able to speak with one of the heirs to the estate, however he really didn't have a lot of information, he said as far back as he could remember into his childhood, he remembered it just "being in the barn", and thought his parents must have acquired it when they acquired the farm some 50 odd years earlier. I can find no markings on any pieces, some are painted, but most are raw iron and were wrapped in burlap. All have rust, some more than others, however because it was never exposed to the weather, it is all pretty much just surface, t is no pitting or corrosion. I probably have at least 50 or 60 different pieces and duplicates of many. These will be listed in several different categories, so check my other items listed and check back often, as I'm sure it will take months to list it all (minus a few pieces for me). This auction is for a large ornate cast iron fence panel or grate. The design is Rococo in origin, a pattern of scrolls and curves with no rules. The flower in the center I believe is a Dogwood. It is a single faced panel measuring 28.75" by 18" and weighs just under 26 lbs. Item will be shipped USPS parcel or priority or UPS ground, buyer pays actual shipping read more
