This is one of several bits (some military, some not, and some I'm not sure about) I recently acquired at an auction and I don't have any information on them and cannot guarantee their authenticity. I have included several photos so you can decide for yourself if this is a genuine military issued item. T is some minor pitting (the worst is around the one bridle ring) and loss of plating but the bit is solid with no cracks, breaks, or major dings. The cheeks measure 6 3/4" from the top of the bridle ring to the bottom (excluding the rein ring) and has a 4 1/4" wide mouth piece. It is stamped US and 1 and t is another stamping on the outside of the mouth piece that looks like either ML or WL (see photo #4). The bit is a little out of square and the one cheek piece looks like it's bent outward (see photo 5). It comes with a heavy duty curb chain that is in terrific condition.
