I'm selling off some of my cd collection. I am not a dealer, and all of these are straight out of my collection. This item is a mint condition 3 cd compilation set of 68 classic Carpenters songs titled Carpenters, Their Greatest Hits and Finest Performances (released in 1997 by Reader's Digest Music). These are all original recordings, however many of the tracks have been digitally remixed and remastered for a better sound quality than the original releases were capable of. In a number of cases t were some additional minor background elements recorded and added (with Richard Carpenter's cooperation and blessing, of course). Having listened to both versions, I'd say in most cases they're almost unnoticeable and always a positive enhancement. These versions are not available in other collections. The songs leap off of the disc when played, and sound much brighter and crisper than on my original Carpenter's cds or even some of these songs on my From the Top box set. Richard and Karen never sounded better! In addition t is a beautiful 14+ minute live medley of Burt Bacharach songs from a 1974 concert at the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas, which is exclusive to this compilation. This set is an absolute must for the Carpenters fan, it is probably the best overall sound quality collection of recordings of theirs available.
