Up for auction is this wonderful vintage book of Canadian Army regimental history of 1st Battalion The Regina Rifle Regiment 1939 - 1946. It is a soft cover with a spiral binding containing 70 pages measuring 9" x 12". The book was conceived and edited by Captain Eric Luxton. The preliminary committee of the Regina Rifles' Association appointed an editorial committee consisting of Captain Eric Luxton as chairman and Majors Gordon Baird and Gordon Brown as members. A finance committee raised funds for publication. The Story of the Reginas was written from the viewpoint of an average member of the Regina Rifles. It does not purport to be a military treatise, but a factual narrative account of the happenings of one infantry battalion of the Canadian Army. This is not a history of the Regina Rifle Regiment which was later to form three more battalions for service at home and in the occupation army in Germany, but the simple story of the fighting 1st Battalion, later to become known as the Regina Johns. Readability, accuracy and fairness were the aims of the authors. To follow the story, t is a drawn map on pages 36 and 37 of the book (see my photos). T are photos on nearly every page that were dontated for publication. T is even one of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth inspecting the Reginas in review order at Aldershot, England and read more
