A carte-de-visite portrait of a young boy identified as ‘H.N.Callander’ on the page of the album that this came from. The full inscription read ‘H.N. Callander with Foxie and Mousie’. The dog standing on its hind legs on the chair at the left-hand edge of the image is obviously ‘Foxie’, transfixed by ‘Mousie’ sitting on Master Callander’s hand.From an album compiled by the Campbells of Islay.Photographed by Ross and Thomson of 90, Princes Street, Edinburgh.The print shows an odd light patch at the upper left-hand corner, but is otherwise in excellent condition, with satisfying, dark tones.
