Not sure what I have here? I say this after collecting stamps for 52+ years. Found in box with an old collection and addressed to the legal firm where he worked. His Great-Grandson ask me to the sell collection for him. It took several glances, after months of sorting, before I realized why the cover was in his collection. The margins (left and top) are so wide that I don't believe it is a trimmed coil, booklet or sheet stamp. I compared to my collection. Paper appears different to a sheet example, but possibly storage/acid paper reaction. The margins are my issue. It could be half of a Scott # 807c? I'm always skeptical, but I can't convince myself which it might be. The argument is why would an employee of the Memphis Commercial Appeal newspaper purposely trim a stamp for mailing to a law firm. Even if "they knew somebody collected stamps at the firm", it is implausible, to me, that they would be coached to do such. Besides, it is not addressed to an individual?? You must decide, but a pair of Scott # 807c lists for over $2750.00. This could be a real gem, but again, you must decide.
