This piece is from the Hunan Province of China. It consists of a black chert matrix that has been cut and lightly polished to reveal whitish celestite crystal formations inside the stone. The patterns created by the celestite resemble delicate chrysanthemum flowers and hence the name given to the stones. This piece measures 2 1/4 x 2 x 1 inches or 57 x 50 x 25 mm.
