Cerussite Specimen Cerussite (also known as lead carbonate or white lead ore) is a mineral consisting of lead carbonate (PbCO 3), and an important ore of lead. The name is from the Latin cerussa, white lead. Cerussite has an orthorhombic crystal system and a hardness of 3 to 3.5. From Morocco, this lovely example has lots of well formed Cerussite crystals and is growing on a Barite and Galena matrix. It measures approx. 5.4 cms x 4.1 cms x 2.1 cms at the widest points.
