This auction is for a very nice Charatan’s Make EXECUTIVE model, Extra large Lane era estate pipe with the L logo. It has a nice squared off bowl with a plateau rim and squared shank. It also has very nice straight grain. Markings: On the left side of the shank, it is marked CHARATAN'S MAKE over LONDON ENGLAND over EXECUTIVE. On this side there is also the L logo. On the right side is the EXTRA LARGE (in script) and MADE BY HAND. On the mouthpiece on the left it is marked with the CP logo and on the right with the Reg. No. 203573 These markings are very faint and you need a magnifier to see them. Overall a nice looking pipe. This pipe is one of a large collection of Charatan pipes (29) that I am putting up for auction over the next week or two. Length of pipe – 5 3/4” Diameter of bowl (outside) – 1 1/4” Diameter of bowl (inside) – 7/8” Length of Mouthpiece – 3” There are no major flaws that I can discern, but the pipe does show some use and age especially on the mouthpiece. It has been smoked and will probably need to be cleaned.
