First of all this is an estate pipe and like most estate pipes it comes with some useage marks such as small scuffs, possible small dings and scratches or maybe a tiny chip some place on the briar. If I miss any of these in this description and you are the winner my aplogies but please don't contact me as I've done my best in describing the piece. Most estate pipes aren't pristine and if one of mine is I'll tell you. I've only waxed the pipe but I haven't cleaned or refurbished it because I don't do that kind of work. I only sell pipes. That being said let's begin. This very large Charatan's Make Special is in great condition and the briar is not as dark as the photo's indicate. The dark patches on the briar are due to the light when I took the pictures. You can see the briar very clearly and completely and t is no carbon or burns anyw on the pipe. The briar is simply darkened from smoking. This pipe is very large but is not stamped Extra Large although it should be. The rim is a little out of round. I can see about a 1/16" hairline briar slit on the rim into the chamber but almost missed it. It's really small and almost invisible.....but it's t The white CP logo is stamped on the as new stem which is not a double comfort. May be a replacement.
