3x5 b/w postwar photo signed by WW2 German "Charlemagne" Knights Cross winner Henri Fenet . In 1940 Fenet was a Lieutenant in the French army and fought the Germans during their advance into France, in the course of which he was awarded the Croix de Guerre for bravery. In October 1943, Fenet volunteered for the Waffen--- and was promptly sent to the Junkerschule at Bad Tölz for abbreviated training. In March 1944 Fenet was given command of the newly formed 8th xx Assault Brigade "Frankreich" in the 33rd. xx-Div. "Charlemagne" with the rank of Obersturmführer. He saw heavy fighting on the eastern front. On 24 April 1945, Hstuf. Fenet led a volunteer assault battalion from the Regiment "Charlemagne" into Berlin. During the battle for Berlin his Sturmbatallion put up heroic resistance in Neukölln, fighting to the last round, and destroying 62 enemy tanks, for which he was awarded his RK.
