AT LAST ! CHARLES BUKOWSKI's FBI FILES. Romantic Loner. Booze-hound. Social misfit. Bukowski was all these things and more. You know the story. Now here's a chance to see him through the eyes of the G-MEN! As a potential troublemaker and radical. Bukowski's German heritage and foreign birth made him suspect after Pearl Harbor. His "LOSER" draft status and lack of a fixed address caught up with him during the Big One, WW II, so the Feds stuck him in the Big House. Yep, jail time for our man at Moyamensing. Incarcerated for about 15 days, during which time he picked up prison slang and learned how to "shoot craps". He was hardly a victim of circumstances, however. His ornery attitude, sullen disposition and drunken demeanour would have made him a suspect anywhere, under any circumstances. So the FBI guys opened up a file on him in the fifties, worried that he might be some sort of COMMUNIST DEGENERATE or worse - a self-published POET ! All in all, it was NOT a Wonderful Life. Also contains numerous large photographs of Bukowski and his dive haunts in L.A. by his official photographer, Michael (deep-voiced) Montfort, fellow-German and fellow-boozer. From the MULLINAX PACIFICA COLLECTION. Picture is of the actual item for auction. Carefully packed and stored in a non-smoking environment. Slightly read, unmarked, crisp, clean and read more
