London, 3rd December 1863 Original blue paper covers, with advertisements etc. 247 x 168mm . 48pp excluding covers. Advertising sheet of W. Junor, stationer of Brighton, pasted inside back cover. Front cover torn in four places at inner margin (nothing missing). Corners o f all sheets creased and worn. Sti tching broken, so that each four-page section of the text is now loose inside the covers. Text pages all slightly discoloured but free from the usual heavy bro wn ing. Early ownership i nscription on front cover . (I have given a detailed description here because the separate 'Condition' section, re cently introduced by eBay, does not seem to be functioning properly.) Dickens's weekly magazine 'All The Year Round' first appeared in April 1859 and continued long after his death. It was his custom to publish a special Christmas number each year, with double the usual number of pages, containing a group of self-contained but linked stories which he wrote jointly with several of his friends and fellow-contributors.
