A truly fine example of the abstract art , perfected by LE CORBUSIER (1887-1965) -- and with this work shows the imaginative rendition of his constructive efforts, that won him great acclaim. The work is of size 7x9 inches=17.5x22.5 cm, for the work itself without counting the antique frame supplied here. The piece is artist monogramed and dated at lower right hand and in overall good condition. My father bought it for his own collection during a Parisian visit via a French auction house in the seventies. The artist became also known for his achievement in the realm of architecture, with numerous prize-winning housing complexes as well as authoring a book about innovative architecture. At age 13, he attended the decorative Art School at La Chaux de Fonds where he learned the art of enameling and engraving. There he was taught by Le Plattinier , and became acquainted with art history, drawing, and art nouveau. He chiefly built with steel and reinforced concrete and worked with elemental geometric forms. These were in part related to his art projects, in that they often corresponded to his architectural oevre. After designing his first house in 1907, the artist took trips thru Central Europe where he engaged himself to work withPeter Behrens, located near Berlin-Germany.
